Effect of Perceived Social Support on Postnatal Depression in Females with Cesarean Section and Normal Vaginal Delivery

Objectives: To assess the association of perceived social support with postnatal depression among puerperal women Faisalabad, Pakistan.
 Methods: It was a case-control study carried out during period 18 months (1-1-2019 to 30-06-2020). By using purposive sampling technique 284 postpartum were enrolled from Allied hospital and Children Faisalabad. The diagnosed Edinburg Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS).The Multidimensional Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) used measure that by women.
 Results: According cut-off score ≥13 on EPDS 37.3% found depressed while 62.7% non-depressed. mean ± SD 10.12 6.27 (min 0; max 27). significant other, family friends as predictor depression. With one-point increase in global support, decreased 0.1 points scale (p = 0.03) normal vaginal delivery group, 0.2 cesarean section group <0.001) total sample < 0.001).
 Conclusion: A poor is risk factor for women.
